Our Practice
I Care OpticalLewis S Lim, O.D. Dr. Lim is a native of the greater Seattle, Washington area. He did his undergraduate studies at the University of Washington. He received his optometric education at the University of California at Berkeley. In addition to training at UC-Berkeley’s Meredith Morgan Eye Clinic, Dr. Lim interned at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California. He also completed an internship at the American Lake Veteran’s Hospital in Tacoma, Washington. Dr. Lim practices with a focus on primary eye care. He has special interests in hard-to-fit contact lenses, diabetic and glaucoma eye diseases, children’s vision, and co-management of cataracts and refractive surgery. Dr. Lim also can speak Mandarin-Chinese and Cambodian. Recently, Dr. Lim has taught himself enough Russian and Spanish to better communicate with some of his non-English speaking patients. Dr. Lim has been at I Care Optical since 2002 and has been the owner since 2006. In his free time, Dr. Lim enjoys basketball, running, snowboarding, gardening, and spending time with his wife and two young daughters. Joan M. Mildenstein, O.D. Dr. Mildenstein completed her undergraduate education at Utah Valley University. She then received her doctorate in Optometry from the Pennslyvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. During her optometric training, she completed internships at Eye Doctors of Washington in DC, Seidenberg and Protzko in Maryland, and the Cataract and Lasik Center of Utah. While still in school, she participated in volunteer work including a service trip to Guatemala to provide much needed eye care. Dr. Mildenstein maintains a special interest in ocular diseases, specialty contact lenses, glaucoma, and the co-management of cataract and refractive surgery. In addition, Dr. Mildenstein is also an avid snowboarder. She enjoys the outdoors and loves to explore the many hiking trails the Seattle area has to offer. Ms. Erica L. Smith Erica was born and raised in Kent, Washington. Erica is a WSU graduate and daughter of former owner Dr. Terry R. Johnson. She has been at I Care Optical for over 16 years. Erica is our lead licensed optician at I Care Optical. She has a gift of acknowledging patient’s needs and delivering on the latest and proper lens/frame solutions. She is also responsible for all glasses and contact lens orders. Erica married her high school sweetheart and has two daughters. In her spare time, she likes to spend time with her family, outdoors, traveling, sports and exercise. Ms. Brie A. Pebworth Brie Pebworth was born and raised in Renton, Washington. She has been at I Care Optical since 2002. Brie loves coming in to work meeting new patients and helping others. She is one of our other lead opticians. Besides opticianry work, she is also responsible for the recall system, and monthly statements. Brie has been married since 2008. She has a stepson and is expecting a child in July of 2010. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, boating, softball, outdoors, and traveling. Ms. Yelena Kravchishin Yelena is our billing specialist. Her expertise includes administrative billing, procedural coding, and accounts receivable. She is also responsible for verifying patient’s insurance benefits. Yelena has been at I Care Optical since 2007. She is very dedicated, patient, and helpful in troubleshooting and resolving complex insurance claims. She also can speak Russian and Ukrainian. Yelena’s hobbies include spending time with her family, outdoors, shopping, and being a part-time makeup artist. Ms. Mira Kovalchuk Mira was born in Kostopol, Ukraine. She has been at I Care Optical since 2007. She is a quick learner and will take on any challenges the clinic asks of her to do. Her primary duties include frame selecting, scheduling appointments, contact lens training and pretesting work up. Mira also can speak Russian and Ukrainian. In her spare time, she enjoys her church, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. Ms. Adriana Espinoza Adriana was born and raised in Mexico. She has been in Washington state for the past 11 years. Adriana is new to our friendly optometric team. She is responsible for pre-testing, scheduling appointments, and processing DSHS glasses orders. She also can speak Spanish. Adriana has a daughter who is 8 years old and a four month old son to keep her busy. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, dancing, and being active in the Spanish community.
